Cambridge CAN (C-CAN) is our CoC’s system of Coordinated Access, which launched client-facing operations on January 23. People who are homeless in Cambridge can complete a C-CAN intake/assessment to join the eligibility pools for Permanent Supportive Housing, Transitional Housing, and/or Rapid Re-Housing programs for which they may be prioritized; to potentially be connected to Housing Navigators that can assist with documentation readiness and housing search; and to receive a range of “soft” referrals to various needs they may have. Click here for a list of participating programs and services. There are three basic ways to access the system for an intake:
- Central Access Point at the Multi-Service Center. The Cambridge CAN Specialist offers hours each weekday dedicated to availability for walk-ins, and is also able to schedule intake appointments outside of those times.
- Scheduled Field-Based Access Points. These are scheduled times when C-CAN staff are available at community-based host sites to administer intake on a walk-in basis.
- Mobile Access Points. C-CAN outreach staff are trained to conduct intake and assessment in the course of their daily work, and are also available to come to clients in the field who are unable to reach another form of intake.
Please see, below, C-CAN’s weekly scheduled access points. Times listed are dedicated to walk-in availability for intakes; parts of the week shaded in gray are times when staff are frequently available to schedule an intake appointment with a client or have an outreach worker meet a client in the field for assessment.
