Equal Access for LGBT Clients

HUD recently released a number of helpful documents related to ensuring equal, fair, and respectful access for LGBT clients, including Equal Access for Transgender People: Supporting Inclusive Housing and Shelters (check out the shout-out to our CoC and Human Rights Commission on page 11!).

Notice CPD-15-02, from early last year, is HUD’s official guidance on “Appropriate Placement for Transgender Persons in Single-Sex Emergency Shelters and Other Facilities.”

Other recently published resources are the Equal Access Decision Tree illustrating factors that encourage or discourage access for LGBT clients, and a set of interactive training scenarios for staff practice.
