Housing Search Training for Staff
Cambridge provider agencies’ staff are invited to attend an upcoming training on Housing Search taking place Monday, July 18, 2016 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM at the Cambridge Multi-Service Center (Western Ave entrance). This training is intended for staff who provide case management to clients but need additional tools and resources to assist clients with housing search. If you or a member of your staff would like to attend this training, please RSVP to Michelle McCarthy (mmccarthy@cambridgema.gov / 617-349-6069) by Thursday, July 14, 2016.
As you may have heard, the Cambridge CoC is about to experience a temporary loss of housing search services as HomeStart’s CoC-funded housing search contracts end in July and our new Coordinated Access project– which includes a housing search component– begins on January 1, 2017. In order to mitigate impacts to the community, we want to offer you the opportunity to learn about housing search resources and practices so you can assist clients directly as housing search referrals will not be an option until the Coordinated Access project begins operations in the new year.
Topics covered will include:
Clarifying your search
Preparations to make during the pre-housing phase
Identifying obstacles to housing
Types of applications
Finding out about opportunities
Helpful resources
and more.
If you have any questions about this training or about housing search services in Cambridge, please contract Shelly Chevalier at schevalier@cambridgema.gov. If you have any questions about Coordinated Access, please contact Josh Levin at jlevin@cambridgema.gov. We hope that you can join us on Monday, July 18, 2016!
