Harm Reduction:
A Pragmatic Approach to Severe Hoarding
by Michael A. Tompkins, Ph.D.
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
9 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Severe hoarding is a serious and growing problem. A combination of an unsafe living environment with an individual’s poor capacity to deal with that environment leads to high-risk situations that can result in eviction, homelessness, and even death. This workshop, led by licensed psychologist Michael Tompkins, presents harm reduction as an alternative to treatment for severe hoarding.
Attendees will learn:
Factors that influence harm potential for people who hoard.
How to assess harm potential.
How to engage people who hoard in the harm reduction process.
How to develop a harm reduction plan.
Specific harm reduction strategies.
Cost: $60 per person — Includes breakfast and lunch — MBHP plans to offer CEUs for this training
